GPS: work that lives somewhere

lineage: Gelora Mycelium Network (Bagua / GPS nodes, MMU Malaysia)

A geofence is a circle on the earth. Inside it, the work opens; outside it, the visitor sees only distance. Walking becomes part of the piece, and the distance readout is itself an image of longing.

experiments to try
  1. Set the radius to 10 m and try to stand exactly on the point. GPS accuracy in the city is often worse than 10 m. Where does the technology's uncertainty become part of the concept?
  2. Chain three fences into a walk: each unlocked work reveals the coordinates of the next. A mycelium of images.
  3. Put the fence around the place a photograph was taken, and exhibit the print far away. The visitor must choose which half to visit.
